James Matthew Lucas

Lexington – Mr. James Matthew Lucas, 87, entered into rest Friday, July 21, 2017.

James was the father of Raymond (Michelle) Lucas, Kathy (Dean) Brown, and Rodney Lucas.  He was the grandfather of Heather Young, Sara Dye, Jessica Hodges, Christopher Lucas, Missy Looney, Robert D. Brown, III., Angela Lucas; great grandfather of Miranda Young, Joseph Young, Lauren Young, Dillon Dye, Jake Dye, Justin Looney, Brandon Looney, Tyler Looney, Kaitlyn Ferrugia, Jace Brown, Ann Marie Shields, and Levi Wilson.  He was the husband of the late Evelyn Elouise Berry Lucas.  James was the son of the late Burley Creighton and Ethel Cassidy Lucas.  He was the brother of Mary Lucas, Catherine White, Bill (late Evie) Lucas and the late Junior Lucas. 

James was a veteran of the U. S. Army where he served in the Korean War.  He was a member of Florence Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 pm in the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home and Cremation Services.  The Funeral Service will be Tuesday 11 am, also in the chapel.  The Rev. David Kessler will be ministering to the family. Burial will be in the Pelion Oaklawn Cemetery.
