Linda Hawkins Poole

Pelion – Mrs. Linda Hawkins Poole, 68, was called home on Thursday, August 10, 2017, surrounded by family.

Linda is survived by her children, Mitchell (Kellye) Poole, Shelley (David) Laird, Jason (Leigh Anne) Poole and Wesley (Jennifer) Poole.  She was the loving grandmother of Zachary and Hollis Poole, Johnnie Huckabee and Brian Laird, Samantha and Ava Poole, and Paige, Avery, and Kellen Poole. She is also survived by her step mother Eunice (Bo) New, brothers Eddie (Teressa) Gleaton, Jeff (Kim) Lowe, Paul (Missy) Hawkins, sister Debbie (Robert) Pierson, and many nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her husband, Charles Poole, parents, Ed and Evelyn Gleaton, and James Hawkins, step brother Timmy Lowe.

Linda was an active member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and WMU director.  Linda worked as a secretary, substitute teacher for Pelion schools and finally found her dream job as a florist when she purchased Pelion Flower Shop. Linda and Charles also owned and operated Poole’s Poultry Farm. Above all the titles she held, her most important was Mama and Grandma.  She gave a true example of unconditional love.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 pm Sunday at Mount Hermon Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Service following at 3:30 pm also in the church sanctuary. The Rev. Josiah Mazzell is ministering to the family.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mount Hermon Baptist Church, 1845 Cedar Creek Road, Pelion SC 29123.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Brookdale Harbison staff, MSA Hospice and Home Health and her in-home care givers.
