New Holland – Mrs. Margaret Evelyn Cofer Kirkland, 97, entered into rest Friday December 30, 2016.  

Mrs. Kirkland is survived by her sons, James Henry “Jim” (Margaret Kay) Kirkland and McLane “Lane” Cofer (Linda) Kirkland; daughter-in-law Linda Kirkland; grandchildren, Michele (Michael) Burnett, Todd Kirkland, Jamie (Bill) Mason, Kellie (Michael) Jackson, Christy Hutto, and Chasiti (Mark) Jackson; great grandchildren, Austin Lee (Sarah) Kirkland, Julia Michaela (Eric) Pardue, Riley Kirkland Burnett, Reagan Michele Burnett, Raney Lane Burnett, Colton (Casey) Mason, Logan (Josh) Griffith, Josh (Brandy Corder) Swartz, Kelsie (Matt) Johnson, Gabrielle “Gabby” Prescott, Brittany Hutto and Taelor (Justin) Helmuth; great-great grandchildren, Blake Allen Kirkland, Miles Aubrey Kirkland, Aerilee Elise Pardue, Attalynn Lowray Pardue, Layla Grace Mason, Adley Hayes Mason, Bralyn Riley Johnson, Kallie Ray Johnson, and Landen Hutton Helmuth;  sister-in-law, June Cofer and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Kirkland was born Dec. 30, 1919 in Aiken County to the late James Madison and Grace McLane Cofer. She was married to the late Harold Quinton Kirkland for 47 years and also preceded in death by her son, Harold Fredrick “Harry” Kirkland; and siblings, Jack Cofer, Glen Eve Gunter, John “Tony” Cofer, Richard “Sonny” Cofer and McLane “Mc” Cofer. 

Mrs. Kirkland was a Telephone Sales Operator for Sears. She attended Pauline Church of Christ, loved her family and thoroughly enjoyed music and dancing.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 pm Monday at Pauline Church of Christ, 3133 Fairview Road, Leesville, SC (in the Fairview Community). The Funeral Service will follow at 3 pm with Pastors Rick Farwell and Chris Addy officiating.
