Myrtle Mae Brown Joyner

Salley – Funeral Services for Mrs. Myrtle Mae Brown Joyner, 100, will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 4 pm at Clinton United Methodist Church. Mrs. Joyner will be placed in the church one hour before the service. The family will receive friends before and after the service in the Recreational Building. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Joyner passed on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the home of her daughter in West Columbia, SC. Born in Orangeburg County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Jemima Brown and Jessie Livingston Wolfe Brown. She was predeceased by her husband of almost 60 years, Robert D. Joyner Sr.; sisters, Frances Joyner, Mary Ellen Jeffcoat, Agnes Mott, Virginia Till and brother, D. J. Brown.

Mrs. Joyner is survived by her children, Martha J. Ouzts (Ben) of Columbia, SC, Robert D Joyner Jr. (Gaynell Williamson) of Pelion, SC and Linda J. Ouzts (Allen) of West Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Ben Ouzts III of Pensacola, Fl, Stephen Ouzts of Beaufort, SC, Robert Ouzts of Rock Hill, SC, Robert Joyner III of Orangeburg, SC and Daphne Ouzts of West Columbia, SC; 6 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and sister, Betty Huff of Orangeburg, SC. 

Mrs. Joyner was an accomplished seamstress, avid gardener and active member of Clinton UMC until her health declined. She retired as a supervisor with Wagener Manufacturing Company.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd, Ste 100, West Columbia, SC 29169 or Clinton United Methodist Church, 333 Hollow Creek Road, Salley, SC 29137.
