Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Hayden Williams, 87, entered into rest on Monday February 12, 2024. The Williams family is at peace knowing that Tommy is resting in the arms of Jesus.
Left to cherish Tommy’s memory is his loving wife of sixty-five years, Annie Clyde Shealy Williams; children, Carolyn Ann Williams Yon, Jeffery Craig Williams, David Aaron Williams, and Sandra “Sandy” Denise Willams Collins and her husband Joe; grandchildren, Joshua Yon, Brittany Collins Yon and her husband Michael “Mike”, Dalton Williams and his wife Ryan, Benjamin Collins, and John Williams; great grandchildren, Genevieve "Eve" Yon, Hudson Williams, Sylas Collins, Murray Stow-Yon, and Raegan Williams; sister-in-law, Patricia Shealey; and adopted in love daughters, Cathy Garner, Melesia Blizzard Farkas, Marcia Lee Blizzard, and Alica Fulmer.
Mr. Tommy was the son of the late Flossie Davis Williams and the late Thomas Hayden Williams, Sr. He is also preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel Yon; and his sister, Miriam Williams Collum.
Mr. Tommy leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and service. He served his country with honor as a Veteran of the South Carolina National Guard. He was a faithful and devoted member of Perry Baptist Church for 84 years. He served as deacon and contributed to the church in numerous other capacities.
Mr. Tommy’s heart for serving extended to his neighbors and community, where he dedicated 41 years of service to the Town of Perry in various capacities, including police chief, councilmember, and mayor. In addition to his local service, Mr. Tommy served 18 years on the Lower Savannah River Council of Governments.
Mr. Tommy was a devoted husband, father, and Granddaddy. He treasured spending time with his family, especially at their pond. One of his favorite activities was taking his great grandchildren on golf cart rides. Tommy will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends.
A service celebrating Mr. Tommy’s life will be at 4 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Perry Baptist Church with military honors. The Williams family will receive friends immediately following the service.
