Betty was one of the first people I met after moving to Charleston in 1999 — on the AFB golf course. She became a special friend and I cherish the times we had together. Prayers and blessings to her family.

To the Family of Mrs. Erbe,
Mrs. Erbe was one of my math teachers at Stall High School and was an inspiration in my life as math was always a diffcicult subject for me in school. Mrs. Erbe had way of connecting math to me that made sense. I will always remember her kindness that she showed to me and was one of those teachers that really touched students lives as she truly touched mine. She always had a saying which was " You gotta be smarter than the average bear." I lost contact of where she lived after I graduated and went in the Navy. I will say Mrs. Erbe I became smarter han the average bear as I graduated from Charleston Southern University with a BA In Relgion and my Masters In Pastoral Counseling from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. Thank you Mrs. Erbe for being an inspiring teacher in whom I will never forget!!

Aunt Betty,

You taught me how to drive....how to bowl....and how to be committed to any task in life. I will never forget the hours we spent having chats at home and the time we spent together.

I will never forget the time I had car trouble , and my Dad could not help me as the car would only go in reverse....you came over....checked things over....and asked my dad what he thought.
He threw his hands up in the air.....you hopped in the car, released the emergency brake, and patted your big brother on the rear seat of his pants....."guess that's why I'm above you in rank Bill". You said.....he just looked at me with disquest.

I am glad I got to see you these last few times...it was great to see you smile as we chatted
about all those times from the past.

Betty and I were friends for many years, primarily through golf and bingo. What a great golfer and inveterate bingo player. I, and my retarded brother Robbie, used to meet her to play bingo about once a week. She was so good to my brother!! She used to talk a lot about her time in the service, her mother, Bernice, and a niece of hers.

I WILL MISS HER, BUT I AM SOOOO THANKFUL THAT SHE WAS A BEAUTIFUL PART OF MY LIFE. MAY GOD BLESS HER SOUL, AND ALL OF HER FAMILY.

My condolences to the family, she was the most motivating teacher, I credit her for pushing thru my most difficult years as a teenager in high school and graduating. She was the inspiration for me to join the Air Force. When ask who was your most favorite teacher in school, she is the the A#1 on the list. Just wanted to give my condolences and let the family know that this beautiful lady made a difference in this young mans life. God bless.

My husband and I would like to express our sincere sympathy to the family and friends of your beloved Betty. Although we hadn’t had the opportunity to meet Betty personally we do understand the pain of losing one so dear. We would like to share with you comfort we have experienced from Gods word found in 2 Corinthians 1:3,4. Our Heavenly Father is truly a wonderful source of comfort, he is always there for the broken hearted and those crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18) Please take a few moments, share your memories with those who surround you for the memories shared are the ones most truly cherished, may they bring you comfort and peace as you begin to heal. Take care of yourselves and each other during this very difficult time.

I first met Betty during my time at Charleston AFB. She was the 1st Sgt. and set an example for others to follow. She was very strict when it came to the regulations but at the same time she was a dear friend of mine. We played golf together in later years and I will miss her very much. Rest in peace Betty.
