Salley – Godfrey “Boogie” Platts, Jr., 66, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 18, 2019.
Boogie is the husband of Lynn Broad Platts. They have been married thirty-four years. Their children are; Kenneth Randall Platts, Sr. and his wife Trinity of Pelion, David Anthony Platts and his wife Carrie of Lexington, and Marty Kayne Moore and his wife Nae Nae of Lexington. Boogie’s grandchildren are Kenny Platts, Jr., Samantha Leigh Platts, Rhaygen Kennity Platts, Graceann McKenna Platts, Kaila Lynn Platts, Jessie Elizabeth Platts, Dalton Anthony Platts, Savannah Kayne Moore, Cameron Moore, and the late Kierri Lynn Platts, and Chaley Denise Platts. His great grandchildren are to be born next year; Amelia Rose O’Brien and Everleigh Elizabeth Adkins. Boogie is the brother of Patricia “Tootie” Thompson, John Lee Platts, Sr. and his wife Jeanna, Robert Platts and his wife Kathy, Dianne Wasyk and her husband Bill, Joseph “Doolie” Platts and his wife Wanda, and the late Curtis “Buster” Gomillion and his wife the late Francis. Boogie is the son of the late Godfrey Platts, Sr. and the late Anna Mae Bell Platts.
Boogie was gifted with his hands and was a Master Carpenter. He loved his family and helping others.
Visitation will be Friday, November 22 from 1 to 2:30 pm in the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A Service Celebrating the life of Boogie will follow at 3 pm with Rev. John O’Cain ministering. Burial will be in the Salley Oakview Cemetery.
