COLUMBIA – The Panikhida (Prayer) Service for Karen Alice Yarbro, 67, of Columbia will be held at 7:00 pm Monday, June 24th at Holy Apostles Orthodox Church in West Columbia. A Celebration of Life Service for Karen will be held at 9:00 am Tuesday, June 25th at Saints Mary and Martha Orthodox Monastery, 65 Spinner Lane, Wagener, SC.
Karen was born February 29, 1952 in Beaumont, TX; she was the daughter of the late Ed Mark Yarbro and Alice Cary Cooper Yarbro. She was the sister of: Denise Y. (Michael) Martinez of Seabrook, TX, Linda Y (Jeff) Bracey of Columbia, SC, and the late John Mark Yarbro of Palmer, AK and sister in law Donna. Her nieces and nephews are Michael (Dorothy) Martinez, Chris (Kim) Martinez, Elizabeth (Daniel) Contreras, Mark Martinez, Sarah (Charlie) Johnson, Emily (Jamie) Neff, Matthew Bracey, Angela Yarbro, Zack Yarbro, and Ben Yarbro.
Karen attended Delgado Jr. College and Loyola University; she earned an Associate Degree in Computer Science. She lived most of her life in New Orleans. She was a computer programmer there for Minerals Management Services. Karen moved to Columbia in 2004 to be near her sister Linda. She was a member of Holy Apostles Orthodox Church.
