Lourie Augustus Salley, Jr.

Salley, SC – Mr. Lourie Augustus Salley, Jr., 87, entered into rest, Wednesday, August 9, 2017.

Mr. Lourie was the father of Lourie A. Salley, III, John Salley, Robert (Iris) Salley, Jay Salley and Joe (Teri) Salley. He was the grandfather of Arielle (Sammy Dominguez) Salley, Jared Salley, Jacob Salley, Nathan Salley, Dillon Salley, Dominik Salley, Sabrina Salley, Samantha Salley, Olin Salley, and Maddie Salley. He was the great grandfather of Odette Dominguez and Arius Wolf Salley. Mr. Lourie was the brother-in-law of Margaret and Quincy Kinard.

Mr. Lourie was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Nancy Murdock Salley.  He was the son of the late Lourie A. Salley, Sr. and Christine Pridgen Salley.

Mr. Lourie was born in Salley, SC.  He was a graduate of The Citadel, The Military College of SC.  He served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper and Ranger in Korea. Mr. Lourie commanded the test platoon for research on the T10 parachute.  He was a research chemist with DuPont at the Savannah River Plant.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday at 11:30 am at Salley Oakview Cemetery with the Rev. Frank Townsend officiating.
