Mamie (Green) Barr

Wagener – Mrs. Mamie Lorene Green Barr, 81, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

Mrs. Mamie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was married to the late Otis Barr for 58 years. She is the mother of Wayne (Misty) Barr, Janet Starnes, Angie (Curt) Johns, Rebecca “Becky” Boone, and Leigh (David) Pritchard. Mrs. Mamie was the Granny of Manette (Dushyanth) Pandana, Melvyn Barr, Madison (Cody) Wrona, Syrena (Scott) Curry, the late Christopher (Erin) Starnes, Shannon (Adam) Taylor, Jesse Johns, Jessica (the late Jonathan) Williams, Joanna (Matthew) Fuller, Joshua Boone, Brooke Pritchard, and Jonathan Pritchard. She is the Great Granny of Margo Pandana, Harvey Pandana, Caitlyn Curry, Cassidie Curry, Ethan Starnes, Jacob Starnes, Kaelyn Taylor, Zachary Taylor, Logan Williams, Ethan Williams, and Addison Williams, Mrs. Mamie was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Ethel Toole Green and her siblings Carolyn Smith, Mary Wells, Jesse Green, and Fred “Boyce” Green.

Mrs. Mamie was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church where she was a WMU member and served in the Fellowship Hall. She retired from the Cafeteria at both Wagener-Salley High and Busbee Elementary schools. Mrs. Mamie was a wonderful homemaker, an avid gardener, and a companion who loved to work with her husband on their farm.   

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Saturday in the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mamie will be at 3 pm Sunday, June 9th at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church with the Reverend Josiah Mazzell and Dr. Vernon Pritchard officiating. Mrs. Mamie will be placed in the church at 2 pm for viewing.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials in honor of Mrs. Mamie may be made to Mt. Hermon Baptist Church at 1845 Cedar Creek Road, Pelion, SC 29123.
