Salley – Mrs. Margaret Murdock Kinard, 84, entered into rest Monday, April 15, 2019.
Margaret was born in Honea Path, SC to the late Ernest N. Murdock and Elsie Gable Murdock. Margaret is survived by her husband, Quincy Kinard and daughter, Lou Kinard and her husband Charlie Elberson of Charlotte. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Margaret attended Honea Path schools and graduated in 1952. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Winthrop and a Master’s Degree from SC State in Guidance Counseling. She taught the 6th grade in the Salley and Springfield Public Schools. After moving to Orangeburg, she taught 6th grade at Rivelon School in District 5. After several years, Margaret moved to Salley and became the guidance counselor at Blackville Middle School. She retired after 35 years.
Margaret was a faithful member of Salley Baptist Church. She was a 20-year season ticket holder of Gamecock football and basketball. Margaret enjoyed outdoor activities, especially fishing, tennis, golf and softball. She was a very generous lady with a huge and humble heart.

A Service Celebrating Margaret’s life will be held at 1 pm Saturday, April 20th in the Salley Baptist Church. Pastor Phillip Proveaux and Dr. Philip May, Senior Pastor of Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church in Silver Creek, GA will be ministering to the family. A reception immediately following the service will be held in the church fellowship building. Burial will be private.
