Miriam (Hoover) Smith

Pelion – Mrs. Miriam Hoover Smith, 85, went home to be with the Lord Monday, January 7, 2019.

Mrs. Miriam is the mother of Blaine Smith and Ginger Smith, grandmother of Tyson “Ty” (Jessica) Smith and Jamie (Brandon) Smith, and great grandmother of Connor, Luke, Cliff, Austin, and Katelyn. She is the sister of Mildred Smith, Ruby Craft, Clinton Hoover, and the late Wallace Lucas, Jimmie Lee Lucas, Hubert F. Hoover, Jr., Olin Lindwo Hoover, and Beatrice Hoover. Mrs. Miriam was married to the late George Smith and was the daughter of the late Hubert F. Hoover, Sr. and Florence Lucas Hoover.

Mrs. Miriam loved Pelion Baptist Church where she was a member and taught Sunday School.  She was a seamstress at Wagener Manufacturing Company for more than 40 years. Mrs. Miriam loved working in her yard and going out to eat. She is remembered by her family for the Sunday meals she always cooked.

Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 pm Friday in the fellowship building of Pelion Baptist Church. A Service Celebrating the life of Mrs. Miriam will follow in the church sanctuary at 3 pm. Burial will be in the Pelion Oaklawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Pelion Baptist Church at P. O. Box 276 Pelion, S. C. 29123.
