Alan "Al" Stephens Obituary

Wagener – Mr. Alan “Al” Randall Stephens, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 1st, 2025.  Al was born in Lenoir City, Tennessee to the late John E. Stephens, Sr. and the late Marjorie Munier Stephens. He graduated from Lenoir City High School with a football scholarship to The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he graduated with a BS in Education.

Al spent twenty years in the restaurant business and owned a franchise of Waffle House restaurants in Colorado. He left the restaurant business to pursue a career in real estate and real estate development in Virginia Beach, where he later became a mortgage broker. Upon moving to South Carolina, he spent his last years in land development with Keller Williams Realty Aiken Partners.

Al was very involved in the Faith Riders Motorcycle Ministry in Virginia. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle on mission trips to Daytona and Sturgis to help lead others to Christ. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Wagener. Al was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing with his best friends Ronnie and Albert.

Al leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Anne Williamson Stephens; a sister, Sharon Fowler; a brother, John E. Stephens, Jr.; brother-in-law, Ronnie (Kitty) Williamson; sisters-in-law, Gaynelle Smith and Patti (Jerry) Griswold and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his brother, David Stephens; brother-in-law, Gene Smith; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Bob Killilea.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SPCA of Aiken, 199 Willow Run Road, Aiken, SC 29801.

The family expresses their grateful appreciation to their friend, Robin Whittle, for being the best nurse anyone could imagine.

Visitation will be 2-3 pm on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3 pm also in the chapel.  The family will honor Al’s life with a private burial.
