Andy Boan

Fairview – Mr. Andy William Boan, 67, peacefully went home to be with Jesus on September 23, 2025.

Left to cherish Andy’s memories are his loving wife of 27 years, Rita Rish Boan, children: Brent Shumpert and his wife Brooke, David Shumpert and his wife Brittany, grandchildren: Carter Shumpert, Oakley Shumpert, Ellison Shumpert, in-laws: Marion (Rita) Rish, Tammy (Chris) Kitchens, and Lisa (Alan) Shumpert, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Andy was born in Toul, France. He is the son of John William Boan and Noella Marie Boucheron Boan.

Andy served his country proudly in the United States Navy and the Air National Guard where he retired after 20 years of faithful service. Andy was a decorated veteran, having received multiple awards including the Meritorious Service Medal for his service as Fire Supervisor at McEntire Air National Guard Base. Andy retired as Fire Captain from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport after 30 years of service. His most treasured title was one that was given to him by his grandchildren, Pops. He found great joy in working alongside his sons, David and Brent, on the farm. Whether it was fixing, building, or lending a strong hand, those moments spent together in the fields were some of his greatest pleasures. Andy loved nothing more than gathering his family together, and their yearly vacations will forever be some of the families’ sweetest memories. Pops planned every detail – always making sure it was filled with laughter, adventure, and plenty of fun. Those trips were more than just vacations; they were times that drew the family closer and moments that they will treasure forever. Andy will be forever loved and dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Andy’s honor may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church where he was a faithful member.

Visitation will be 2-3 pm on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be at 3 pm also in the sanctuary. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
