Ansel Gene Butler, 81, went to be with the Lord on December 15, 2023, at Aiken Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Aiken County, Mr. Butler was a son of the late Ernest and Maude Floyd Butler, Sr. In addition to his parents, Mr. Butler was preceded in death by 7 siblings; Russell Floyd, Helen Riles, Ernest Butler Jr., Juanita Key, Margaret Butler, Doris Berry, and Lillie Mae Butler, and 2 nephews; Darryl and Dwayne Riles; and Dora Butler, the love of his life. Surviving are nieces and nephews: Larry Key (Leslie), Pat Key (Candy), Rick Key (Angie), Mark Key (Linda), Deborah Ergle (Dennis), Mike Berry (Sandy), Karen Clodfelter (Gerald), Brian Berry (Kim), Tommy Butler (Chris), Donna Hendrick (Mike), and Danny Riles (Rosemary).
Ansel was a member of First Baptist Church of Montmorenci, where he served as an usher. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed for many years in plumbing supply sales with Butler Supply and Hughes Supply. Ansel is remembered by his Grand Nephews as a “wonderful and kind man.” Pastor Steve caught shellcracker limits on fishing trips with Ansel and knew him to enjoy driving his Earnhardt truck and truly enjoy his church dinners. Ansel was a simple and loving soul who will be missed by many.
Service Celebrating the Life of Mr. Ansel Butler will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, January 14,2025 at First Baptist Church of Montmorenci.
