Arthur Sam Camiola, 71, entered into rest Sunday, April 2nd, 2023.
Arthur is survived by his sisters; Dee Balsamo and her husband Anthony Balsamo MD, Jerianne Simone, and brother John Camiola, and his wife Eileen and brother-in-law Joe Scalleat. He is also survived by his beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Jerome J. Camiola & Paula Camiola, and his sister Marie Scalleat.
Arthur was born in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School. With Gods help, he found his way to Christ Central Institute in Ridgeland South Carolina, first as a patient and then as a volunteer in service. South Carolina became his home and for good reason. He would study and serve at Christ Central Institute in Lexington and also in Wagener South Carolina. In January, Arthur enrolled at Erskine College in Due West to further his education in Theology. Arthur was sure that God had saved him first from addiction and second from the world we live in. He became a devout follower of Jesus Christ.
Arthur was special and triumphed over the clutches of addiction. Arthur had found the Lord, became a child of God, and dedicated his life to serving the Lord. He humbled himself daily and began a life with purpose and submission to Gods will. He developed a love for the homeless war veterans and was able to serve through Christ Central Institute and other volunteer opportunities. He considered the war veterans heroes and always called them his brothers. Arthur said living was about serving God and serving the needy.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, April 13, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion Street Columbia SC 29201.
