Betty Salley Obituary

Salley – Mrs. Betty Faye Leach Salley, 92, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, May 6, 2021.

Mrs. Betty is the loving wife of the late Nathan “Bob” Robert Salley, Sr. for 67 years prior to his passing this past January. She is the mother of Nathan Robert Salley, Jr. and his wife Sharon, Henry “Hank” McLeod Salley and his wife Leslie, Rhett Cullum Salley and his wife Gwen, and Paul DeWitt Salley and his wife Tina. Mrs. Betty is the Grandma of Ryan Lamar Salley and his wife Samantha, Valerie Sappenfield and her husband Scott, Lloyd Turner and his wife Stacey, Brent Turner and his fiancé Allison, Audrey Salley McKay and her husband Ian, Mindy Dawn Salley, Maegwen Betty Massie and her husband Kyle, Joshua DeWitt Salley, and Christopher Nathan Salley. She is the great grandma of Emma Shephard, Morgan Alexis Salley, Charlotte Rose Salley, Kate Sappenfield, Sam Sappenfield, Logan Turner, Autumn Shelor, Ivy Shelor, Abigail Grace McKay, Melanie McKay, Nathan “Nate” DeWitt Salley, and Della DeShannon Salley.  Mrs. Betty is the daughter of the late Cain McLeod Leach and the late Henrietta Holt Leach. She is the sister of Janet McLeod Knopf and her late husband Dr. Reuben DeLoach Knopf, and the late Donna Rose Reeves and her husband the late Marion Sims Reeves. She has numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Betty was a faithful member of Salley Baptist Church where she led the WMU and sang in the choir. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a member of the Salley Rescue Squad, a member of the Hen House Ministries, a member of the Palmetto Painters Artist Guild, a member of the Society of Decorative Painters, and a member of the Edisto Singers. She was a devoted and supportive wife to Mr. Bob in all his countless endeavors while raising four boys. Mrs. Betty enjoyed spending many happy hours with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorials in honor of Mrs. Betty may be made to Kindred Hospice at 5250 Woodside Executive Court, Aiken, SC 29803.

The Salley family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to all Mrs. Betty’s care givers: Kindred Hospice; Wendy Breeden, Andrew Korneich, Brittany Phillips, Alisha Jackson, and Liberty Dauphin; Sara Beth Shadd, Willene Keadle, and “I Care 4 U”; Catherine Garvin, Jean Thurmond, Twanda Nesbett, Patricia Williams, SanQuetta Williams, Theresa Johnson, Angel Key, and Felecia McKiever.   

Visitation will be 4-6 pm on Saturday May 8, 2021 at the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Funeral Service will be 3 pm on Sunday May 9, 2021 at Salley Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Salley Oakview Cemetery. Rev. Phillip Proveaux will be ministering.
