Mr. Warren Carey Bazemore, Sr., 91, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
Mr. Carey is survived by his wife of 73 years, Salley Bevill “Baby” Bazemore, children: Janice Bazemore, Eric Ward Bazemore and his wife Deborah, Murray Clabon Bazemore, Deborah B. Smith and her husband Lindsey, Sandra B. Fink, Catherine Elizabeth “Liz” Adkinson and her husband Mitch, and Theresa Jane B. Collingwood, 13 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, brother: Robert Terrill Bazemore, sister-in-law, Grace Bazemore, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Carey was born on July 18, 1934, to the late Pearl Barner Bazemore and the late Edward Descombe Bazemore, Sr. He is also preceded in death by his sister Carolyn Loper and her husband Hollis, and brothers: Edward Descomber Bazemore, Jr., Ray Bazemore, Jack Bazemore, and James Reginald “Jimmy” Bazemore, and sister-in-law Shirley Bazemore.
A determined hard worker, Mr. Carey owned and operated Bazemore Auto & Truck which is now owned and operated by his children. Not only did Mr. Carey teach them the craft of his trade, he also instilled in them the important qualities needed to carry on the family business. Beyond his work, Mr. Carey found joy and fulfillment in working his land. He spent much time working in his garden, tending to his crops, and sharing the fruits of his labor. A man of faith, Mr. Carey loved the Lord and his church, Berlin Baptist Church where he was a member.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 2 pm on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Berlin Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Pelion Oaklawn Cemetery. Pastor Mike McCormick will be officiating.
