Carolyn Pfeiffer, 84 years of age, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday October 10, 2020.

Mrs. Pfeiffer was survived by her daughter, Rhoda Pfeiffer Mills and her husband Kyle Mills, and beloved granddaughter Lydia Grace Mills of West Columbia.  She is also survived by her sister, Edith Kowalczyk of Maryland, nieces Elizabeth Radford of West Columbia, Rachel Kowalczyk of Myrtle Beach and nephew Ralph Kowalczyk of Maryland. She is also survived by other grand nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Pfeiffer was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Francis Herbert Hancock and Lydia Wagner Hancock.  She was predeceased by her husband Keith Pfeiffer of Pelion, and brother Richard Hancock of Maryland.

Mrs. Pfeiffer was a veteran of the US Air Force stationed in Hawaii and Alaska. Upon leaving the Air Force she worked for a time for Sabina Belgium Air Lines Kennedy Airport in Queens, NY.  She attended Pace University in NY and worked for Jamaica Hospital in Jamaica, NY.  She also worked for various physicians in private practice.  Upon moving to SC, she went to work for Baptist Hospital in the Oncology Department.

She left the medical field in the early 1990’s to follow her heart and opened an antique and collectables business, Carol’s Collectables, located in Pelion, SC. In her retirement, she loved caring for her granddaughter Lydia. She often took Lydia her with her “antiquing”.

Visitation with family and friends will be held Friday, October 16th at the home of her daughter from the hours of 5-8 pm. The address is 1439 D Avenue, West Columbia.   Due to COVID-19, a memorial service will be held in the spring and she will be interred at Arlington Memorial with her husband Keith.

The family requests that any memorials be made to BBN Radio PO Box 7300, Charlotte, NC. 28241   She found great comfort in listening to their programming during the last Years of her life.  The family would also like to thank the caring staff at Heart of Hospice who were indispensable in her last months.
