Gaston – With profound sadness we announce the passing of Christopher Daniel Nates. Christopher, age 49, passed away after a sudden illness on Saturday, August 14, 2021. He was born April 6, 1972 to Herbert D. Nates and the late Clydie Ann Sharpe. Christopher now has been reunited with his mom who passed away in February of 2021. Christopher’s stepmom is Helen R. Nates.
Christopher’s younger brother is Kenneth D. Nates and his girlfriend Tosha Howard. Christina Bartlett is his younger sister. Her husband is Jonathan. The boys will both tell you that Alisa Ruth “Sissy” Wilson is their extended sister and David Rountree is their extended brother. Christopher’s pride and joy is his pet, Molly.
Christopher’s grandparents are late Rev. James C. Sharpe, the late Lillie C. Sharpe Wylie, the late Lonnie Daniel Nates, and the late Pearl Lee Nates.
Christopher is the nephew of Charles Sharpe and his wife Linda Garvin Sharpe, Melvin Sharpe, Janie Dudley Sharpe, Mary Dikes Sharpe, the late Robert “Bob” Linder Sharpe and the late Billy Joe Sharpe. He has over sixty cousins. Jimmy Frost was Clydie’s best friend and devoted partner who the boys thought a lot of.
Christopher joined the U. S. Army National Guard following graduation from Fairfield Central High School. He then became an EMT for Lexington County for approximately thirteen years. Christopher then went back to school to become a Registered Nurse and most recently obtained a bachelor’s degree to increase his knowledge and skills. He was employed as an Emergency Room Nurse at the W. J. Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center. Christopher was a jeep enthusiast. He took many mountain trips as well as other places with his Jeep. He was a member of the Columbia Jeep Club and the WNC Jeepers.
