David Williams Obituary

David Michael Williams, 64, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 22, 2024.

David is the loving father of Davina Truitt and her husband Michael, Marci Rhodes and her husband Derek, and Erika Bethune and her husband Michael. The daughter’s mother is Lyn Day. He is the “Papa” of Colton Michael Truitt, Cooper Riggs Truitt, Leia Savannah Truitt, Weldon Ray Rhodes, and David Wyatt Rhodes. David was born on September 26, 1959 to the late Lucille Savannah King Williams and the late Lewis Butler “L.B.” Williams, Sr. He is the brother of Lewis B. Williams, Jr., the late Thomas A. Williams, and the late Susan Lucille Williams. He is the brother-in-law of Patricia Williams and Claudette Williams. David is the uncle and cousin to many.  David’s best friends that he shared many memories with are Jimmy “Buddy” Snipes, Victor Odom, Joel Bennett, and Gene Dillon.

David graduated from Wagener Salley High School in 1977, where he drove a school bus his junior and senior year. He was a member of the FFA. After graduating, he worked at Wagener Manufacturing for many years. He then went to work for Savannah River Nuclear Site, where he retired as a Work Control Supervisor. David was a member of First Baptist Church Wagener.

David was the brave Daddy of three girls. His world revolved around them. From hunting and fishing to gardening and cooking, he taught them everything he knew. Watching his girls grow up, become wives and mothers was such a fulfilment for him. He constantly told people how proud of them he was. Becoming a Papa was the second greatest accomplishment in his life. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Buggie rides, trips to the pond, and time spent gardening, he taught them just like he did his girls. The love David had for his family was indescribable.

David enjoyed gardening and canning. He shared what he grew with his friends and neighbors. He enjoyed fishing and hosting fish frys. David was known for his boiled peanuts, like his grandfather who sold peanuts and bbq downtown Wagener in the 1950s.

Visitation will be 1-3 pm on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at First Baptist Church Wagener. Funeral Service will be at 3 pm also in the sanctuary. Burial will follow at Wagener Cemetery.
