Don Allen Eldreth

Wagener – Don Allen Eldreth, 76, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 3, 2019. Born in Lansing, N.C. on April 15, 1942.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Glen and Blanche Eldreth. He is survived by his loving wife Paulette of 53 years, daughter Lisa Malcolm, son Jeff Eldreth, grandson Aaron Malcolm and great grandson Brandon Malcolm of Columbia. One brother Rex Eldreth of Wilkesboro N.C., five sisters Mae Sexton of Hampton, V.A., Judy Testerman of West Jefferson, N.C., Mary Grayum of Randleman, N.C., Pat Taylor of West Jefferson, N.C., and Pam Burgess of Jefferson, N.C.

Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in Naval Aviation. His work career included general electric, USPS, Norfolk and Western Railway and Harsco Rail. He travelled to many foreign countries in his work and was widely known and respected. Retiring from Harsco Rail in 2004 he and Paulette were employed by Holiday Retirement, managing properties in Atlanta, Augusta, and Charleston. He was a member of Bethcar Baptist Church where he served as deacon and taught Sunday School. Don enjoyed life and until illness slowed him down engaged in many activities. He loved sports and coached little league baseball and football in Columbia.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 6th, 2019 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m at Bethcar Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will follow at 4 p.m. Burial will be at a later date with Military Honors. Rev. Chris Addy will be ministering to the family.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Bethcar Baptist Church at P.O. Box 546 Wagener, SC 29164.
