Ed Carver Obituary

Thomas Edward (“Ed”) Carver, 85, passed away peacefully at his residence on August 25, 2025, with his loving wife and family by his side.  Born on May 28, 1940, Ed was the son of the late George Clyde Carver and Beatrice Rushton Carver.

Ed was employed at Wagener Manufacturing in Wagener, South Carolina, for more than 40 years. During his employment, he served as the Plant Manager for 20 years.

Ed is survived by his loving and devoted wife and best friend of 65 years, Frances “Fran” Elizabeth Boyer Carver; his children Wayne (Sherrie) Carver, Todd (Lara) Carver, and Tammy (Jeff) Key, all of Wagener, SC; his grandchildren Adam Carver, Amanda (Rocky) Molina, Orrie (Megan) Carver, Jeremy (Ariel) Key, Jacob Key, Jeffrey (Erin) Key and Michael Waites (Tommy Huynh); and his great-grandchildren Aeris & Rinoa Carver, Ollie Molina, and Tucker Carver, all of whom were a constant source of pride and joy for him, and who he loved and cherished dearly.  Ed is also survived by his sister, Shelby Carver Smith; sister-in-law, Marie Boyer, and brothers-in-law, Billy Boyer and Carol Boyer, and many special nieces and nephews.

Ed was predeceased by his brother, Henry Carver; sisters, Carrie Tindal and Laurine Vance; and many cherished brothers and sisters in-law, Kenneth Smith, JC Tindal, Jr., Margaret Boyer, Lunette (Berry) Culpepper, Lester Wilson, Lloyd Boyer, Earl (Gail) Boyer, Jr., and Paul (Judy) Boyer.

Ed’s life was a testament of his unwavering love and dedication to his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his greatest joy, and the center of his world. Ed was a true jokester and loved playing jokes on people, no matter who you were. He truly loved his entire Carver family more than anything.  Ed became a member of Corinth Baptist Church as a young child and was also baptized there. Many fun memories were made – from family beach trips, 4th of July cook-outs and fireworks, Easter egg hunts with the kids, Halloween trail rides – and everything else in between, Ed’s greatest joy was being with his family. Ed’s legacy will live on forever in the lives and hearts of those he touched.

The family invites you to join them to celebrate Ed’s remarkable life and the love he shared with everyone around him, on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 4:30pm at Bethcar Baptist Church, 950 Bethcar Church Road, Wagener, South Carolina. Visitation will be from 3:00p.m. - 4:30p.m. also in the church sanctuary.  Rev. Chris Addy will be officiating.

Ed’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Amedisys Hospice for the care they provided to him in his last days. Everyone’s love and support through this time is greatly appreciated by the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.Alz.org) – 140 Stoneridge Drive, Suite #640, Columbia, South Carolina 29210.
