Ellie (Walton) Hoover

Wagener  – Mrs. Ellie Iola Walton Hoover, 90, went home to be with Jesus, Tuesday, February 14, 2023. 

Mrs. Ellie is the wife of the late Henry Charlie Hoover.  She is the mother of Connie Hoover of West Columbia, Ronnie Hoover and his wife Bonnie of Lexington, Leslie Hoover and his wife Kathy of Gilbert, Bertie Hoover of West Columbia, and the late Henry Nathan Hoover and his wife Ann of Barnwell.

She is the grandmother of Leslie “Les” Stanley and her husband Alex, Stacey E. Craps and her husband Rodney, Elizabeth A. Hoover and her husband Angel Lolo, Jonathan Hoover, Brian Hoover, Nicholas Hoover and his wife Chelsea, and the late Kristen Makayla Hoover.  She is the great grandmother of six.   

Mrs. Ellie is the daughter of the late Ellie Odessie Powell Walton and the late Thomas Pierce Walton. She is the sister of George Hammond Walton, Bobbie Walton Rodgers, the late Thomas Pierce Walton, Jr., the late Ollie Hendrix, the late Osborn C. Walton, the late Mary Walton Blackston, the late Edna Walton Yon, and the late Neva Walton Howard.

Mrs. Ellie loved flowers, sewing, and crafting.  She had a passion for serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ through playing the piano and other ministries. She and her husband served at Wagener Pentecostal Holiness Church where they received a 30-year service award. Mrs. Ellie was a faithful member of Pelion Church of the Nazarene, where she also used her music and teaching gifts.

Visitation will be 1-2 pm on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Pelion Church of the Nazarene. Funeral Service will be at 2 pm also in the church sanctuary. Graveside Service will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens, where Mrs. Ellie will be laid to rest beside her husband Henry. Rev. H. Larry Jones will be officiating.
