Elzene (Poole) Corbett

Mrs. Elzene Poole Corbett, 89, entered into rest Sunday, August 18, 2024. 

Mrs. Elzene is survived by her daughters; Sharon Ann Young and her husband Walter, and Janet Corbett Beltzhoover and her husband Alex, grandchildren; James Young and his wife Vicki, John Young and his wife Alison, and Elizabeth Beltzhoover, great grandchildren; Lincoln Young and Hannah Young, and her brother; Elzy Poole, Jr.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Olin Thomas “Tom” Corbett, her parents; Annie Lee Martin Poole and Elzy Asbury Poole, and her sister; Louise Poole Beach.

Mrs. Elzene was born on August 26, 1934 on her family’s homestead at Upper Poole’s Mill Place in Lexington County. She graduated from North High School. After marrying the love of her life Tom, she devoted her time to her daughters and helping Tom with his Magistrate work. Her favorite title was “Grandma”, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Elzene enjoyed traveling with Tom, visiting with friends, and helping others. She will be forever loved and missed.

The Corbett family wishes to express their appreciation to Bell’s Caregivers and Pruitt Health Hospice for the care given to Mrs. Elzene.

Visitation will be 5 – 7 pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 2 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Salley Baptist Church. Mrs. Elzene will be placed in the sanctuary one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Salley Oakview Cemetery.
