Garry L. Hawley passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 12, 2024 at Hospice care in Dunedin, Florida after suffering a broken neck at his home in Aiken, South Carolina in November 2023.
Garry was born on October 15, 1940 in Adrian, Michigan to Robert Hawley and Norma (Driscoll) Hawley. He was the oldest of three children and was preceded in death by his brother Thomas and sister Lynette. Garry graduated from Adrian High School in 1959 and attended Michigan State University until 1961.
Garry worked as a patrol officer for the Lansing Police Department. He then was an insurance claims adjuster and salesman for Michigan Mutual Insurance. Garry finished his professional career as a member of the Lenawee County Sheriff's Department where he served as a patrolman, court deputy, and head of courthouse security until his retirement.
Garry was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, and friend. He was married to Sharon (Bradley) Hawley 11 years until her passing. He then married Beatrice Irene (Gunter) Hawley and they remained married 47 years until her passing.
Garry is survived by his daughter Heidi in San Diego, California, his son and daughter-in-law Scott and Lisa in New Port Richey, Florida, his grandsons Ian (Boston, MA) and Jake (Midland, MI) and his nieces, nephews.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday September 21, 2024 beginning at 10:30 am at Blizzard Funeral Home Chapel, Wagener, SC.
