Leesville – Mr. George Edward Sanders, 87, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 28, 2024.
Mr. George is survived by his wife, Linda Jean Chaney Sanders, they have been married for 16 years. His children: Donna Marie Sanders Shealy (Ricky), Samuel Edward “Sammy” Sanders (girlfriend - Cheri Held), and Linda Kaye Sanders Berardo (Tony), stepchildren: Sheryl Bradley, Melissa Matthews (Henry), and Tiffany Lynn Hall VanBlaricum (Rudy), grandchildren: Nicole Ruff, Natalie Buff (Scott), Mark Edward Berardo, and Hannah Rosie Berardo, step grandchildren: Christopher Matthews and Kristen Matthews, great grandchildren: Parker Hood, Gage Shealy, Bige Hyatt, and Lars Hyatt, sister, Annie Belle Sanders Bishop, sisters-in-law; Shirley Sanders, Kathy Wilson and Dorothy Wright, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. George was born on December 18, 1937, in Richland County to the late Charlie Edward Sanders and the late Quirlie Rose Shannon Sanders. He is also preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Betty Rosie Wright Sanders, and mother of his children, siblings and in-laws: Edna Burks (Paul), Frances Jones (Danny), Owens Sanders, Dorothy Hydrick (Jack), and Rev. Bill Bishop.
Mr. George served his country proudly as a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked as an Inspector for Labor Licensing & Regulation of South Carolina where he retired after 30 years of service. He was a faithful member of Convent Baptist Church since his youth, where he served in various capacities. Mr. George enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, gardening, and riding on the golf cart. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. George will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in George’s honor may be made to Convent Baptist Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Ronald McDonald House - South Carolina, or the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be 12 – 1 pm on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Convent Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be at 1 pm also in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow at Lexington Memorial Cemetery – 1772 West Main Street Lexington, SC, 29072.
