Ginger Lee Smith, 71, a cherished member of the Pelion community in South Carolina, peacefully departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 9, 2024, at her home. Born on May 5, 1952, to the late Miriam Hoover Smith and George Bunch Smith.
Ginger was a lifelong resident of Pelion, where her warm presence touched the lives of many. She was known for her love of literature, spending countless hours immersed in the pages of her favorite books. Her affection for her niece and nephew was evident in the joy she found in taking them to the movies, creating cherished memories that will endure for generations to come.
She leaves behind her brother, Blaine Smith; her nephew Tyson "Ty" Smith and his wife Jessica; her niece Jamie Smith, along with Jamie's husband, Brandon, and great-nephews Connor Smith, Luke Smith, and Cliff Smith and great-niece Katelyn Hoffman.
Ginger was preceded in death by her parents and her aunt and best friend, Mildred "Tootsie" Smith.
A longstanding member of Pelion Baptist Church, Ginger devoted her time to teaching Sunday School and sharing her faith and kindness with all who crossed her path. Professionally, she served as a supervisor at the SC Department of Motor Vehicles for over 40 years, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
In her leisure time, Ginger found solace in collecting books, indulging in her favorite soap operas, and engaging in heartfelt conversations with anyone who would listen. She cherished her role as an aunt and took great pleasure in babysitting her nephews, showering them with love and affection.
Ginger's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 5:00 pm at Blizzard Funeral Home in Wagener, SC. The family will receive friends at 4:30 pm at the funeral home, offering an opportunity to honor and remember the beautiful life of Ginger Lee Smith.
Though Ginger may have departed from this world, her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of her Lord and Savior.
