Mr. Glenn Lanier Poole, “Podge”, 70, entered into rest Saturday, January 22, 2022.
Glenn is the husband of the Christine “Chris” Earhart Poole. They have been married 40 years. He is the father of Susan Loibl and her husband Matthew, Terry Poole and his wife Susan, Brice Chmarouski and his wife Bernice, and Mindy Brooks and her husband John. Glenn is the grandfather of Makayla Brooks, Maya Williams, Jacob Chmarouski, Jolie Brooks and her fiancé Casey Berry, Jesse Chmarouski, Annalise Loibl, Emma Grace Poole, Nathan Loibl, and Alora Chmarouski. He is the brother of Emily Jackson and her husband the late John, Della Jackson and her husband the late Wilk, Kay Yon, the late Buddy Poole, and the late Carolyn “Crack” Bolton and her husband Olin. He is the brother-in-law of David Earhart and his wife Debi. Glenn is the son of the late J. E. Poole and the late Aileen Cato Poole. He is the cousin and uncle of many. He also has many friends.
Glenn was a lifetime member of Clinton United Methodist Church. He retired from SRSFD as a Captain after 20 years of service. Glenn was a veteran of the U. S. Army Reserve. He was also a mason with the Salley Masonic Lodge which joined with the Wagener Cedar Lodge # 184. Glenn was a founding member of the Hollow Creek Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief for many years. He received the Order of the Palmetto as well as many other community service awards for his service with the fire department and the community. Of all his accomplishments and awards, Podges’ greatest achievement was the love he had for his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials be made to the Hollow Creek Fire Department at 858 Hollow Creek Road, Salley, SC 29137.
The family would like to thank the ladies of the PCM Nursing Staff for their love and care.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Monday, January 24, 2022 in the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. A Graveside service will be held at 11 am. Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Clinton United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Fred Andrea will be ministering.
