Hilda Yvonne (Reid) Ayer

Mrs. Hilda Yvonne Reid Ayer, 90, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Mrs. Hilda is the widow of Carl Ayer, her loving husband of 58 years until his passing on March 2, 2020. Hilda is the mother of Tim Ayer and his wife Deborah and Vonda Kaye Ayer Rentz and her husband the late Kevin. She is the “Grandma” of Andy Ayer and his wife Ashley, Mitch Ayer and his wife Corey, Tamara Lynn Ayer, the late Joshua Carl Ayer, and the late Edward Rentz. She is the great grandmother of Christopher, James and Mason. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Hilda was born on May 21, 1935, in Brevard County, North Carolina to the late William Henry Reid and the late Clara Holtzclaw Reid. She is also predeceased by her siblings William Reid and Helen Marguarite Reid.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Hilda’s honor may be made to Selah International Counseling Ministries – PO Box 4659 West Columbia SC 29171 or Rocky Grove Baptist Church. 

Visitation will be Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Rocky Grove Baptist Church. Funeral Service will follow at 2:30 pm also in the church sanctuary with Rev. John O’Cain and Pastor David Goforth ministering. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Carl.
