Janis Lynne Guenther, age 75, passed away peacefully in her own home the evening of May 25, 2024. In death, as in life, she did it exactly as she wanted to. All who knew Janis, fondly remember that it was pointless to argue with her once she had made up her mind to do something.
Our mother had a huge personality and a fiery spirit. She touched a lot of people. She had a sense of humor that almost everyone loved (and if you didn’t, who needed you around anyway!). It is nearly impossible to reconcile that she is now gone from this world.
Janis lived an interesting and wonderful life and made many friends along the way. In 1968 she entered the military as a WAF (women in the Air Force) and continued to serve her country in the military for 26 years.
She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Guenther of Cavalier North Dakota and sister to the late Randall Guenther of Rockville, Maryland. She had two husbands that preceded her in death, Richard Ross Quattlebaum of Wagener, South Carolina and Ernest David White of Waterloo, Alabama.
Janis is survived by her son John Karry Quattlebaum and his wife Laura of Prosperity, South Carolina, and her daughter Kim Woodruff and her husband Bradford of Federal Way, Washington. Also, by her grandchildren Kelsey Quattlebaum, Braden Quattlebaum and wife Kelsey, and great-grandchild Daphne Quattlebaum.
The family wanted to express special thanks to the Aides at ‘I’ll Care for You’, Twanda and Katherine and also, the Heart of Hospice staff, especially Nurse Chris Nettles for helping us ensure that she passed with dignity and surrounded by loving and caring people. And to Scott Tindal for all your kind support throughout the years.
Janis didn’t want a fuss. So in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to her favorite charity: Wagener Animal Clinic, 111 Railroad Ave East, Wagener, SC 29164, Phone (803) 218-9181
