Mrs. Jean Elizabeth Hutto Gartman, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Left to cherish Mrs. Jean’s memory are her sons; James Ray Gartman and his wife Julie, Randy Gartman and his wife Tracy, her grandchildren; Torie Douglas and her husband Brent, Allyson Hamilton and her husband Russ, Leanne Padgett and her husband Trey, great grandchildren; Abram Douglas, Judah Douglas, Henry Hamilton, Madeline Padgett and Tillman Padgett.
Mrs. Jean was married to the late James “Archie” Gartman. She was also preceded in death by her son Billy Gene Gartman, her parents Earl Melvin and Gladys Lucas Hutto, and siblings; Elsie Lucas, Geneive Cooper, Gerald Lucas and Victor Lee “Pete” Hutto.
Mrs. Jean was a member of Dean Swamp Baptist Church. She was a sewing room operator and then started her own day care. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday January 8, 2025, at the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. A Service Celebrating Mrs. Jean’s life will be at 11 am on Thursday January 9, 2025, at Dean Swamp Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Salley Oakview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Dean Swamp Baptist Church.
The Gartman family acknowledges the staff of the Magnolia Unit of NHC of North Augusta, as well as Melody, Samantha, Hailey of Caris Healthcare for the care and compassion shown to Mrs. Jean.
