Jean Harrison (Blackmon) Matheson

Mrs. Jean Harrison Blackmon Matheson, 88, went to be with the Lord Monday, November 14, 2022.

Mrs. Jean was born in York County of South Carolina to the late John Jay Blackmon and the late Floride Harrison Nims Blackmon. She has been married for 66 years to E. J. “Bubba” Matheson, Jr. Mrs. Jean is the mother of Jay Matheson, Jeffrey Matheson whose wife is Laurianne, and Judson Matheson. She is the grandmother of Cory Matheson and his wife Kellie, and Cay Castle Cruz.

Mrs. Jean graduated from Erskine College. She became a High School English Teacher and later a Librarian at Wagener Elementary until her retirement. She was an enthusiastic Sunday School Teacher and an active member of Wagener First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to be sent to Erskine College – P.O. Box 338 Due West SC 29639.

Visitation will be 1-2 pm on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Wagener First Baptist Church. Memorial service will be 2 pm also in church sanctuary.
