Joan “Susie” Steele Buff, 81, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
Left to cherish Susie’s memories are her children: Lisa Wallace and her husband Wes Harwell, Randy Northcutt and his wife Lauren, and Glen Northcutt and his wife Sheila, grandchildren: Luke Wallace (Kelsey), Sylvia Wallace (Tiffany), Suzy Chavis (Josh), Kayla Wallace, Amber Northcutt, Andrew Northcutt, Emily Gallop (Harley III), and Maggie Northcutt, great grandchildren: Carolina Wallace, Kyah Wallace, Khallan Wallace, Abigail Chavis, Oliver Chavis, Zayden Wallace, Austyn Gallop, Ellie Gallop, and Nolan Gallop, siblings: Harry Steele, Joyce Toby, Terry Goff (Tony), Snobia Derrick (Ernie) and Devra Taylor, the father of her children, Reggie Northcutt, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Susie was born on December 29, 1944, in Whitmire, South Carolina, to the late Raymond Brevard Steele and the late Crystal Mary Huckaby Corder. She is also preceded in death by her sister and in-laws: Cheryl Campbell and her husband Milford, Sandra Steele, and John Toby.
She loved spending time with her family, laughing with friends, and working in the yard. Whether cheering on Gamecock football, feeding the birds, or simply enjoying the outdoors, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Her warmth, kindness and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, her memory will live on through the love she shared.
Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 am on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Bethcar Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be at 11:30 am also in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow at Lexington Memorial Cemetery. Following the graveside service, the family will receive friends at the home of Randy Northcutt.
