Johnnie Huckabee Obituary

Wagener- Mr. Johnnie Huckabee, 73, entered into rest Tuesday, July 28, 2020.

Mr. Johnnie is the husband of Patricia Ann Driggers Huckabee. They have been married fifty-four years. They have two children: Deidre Huckabee of Aiken and Travis Huckabee of Salley. Travis’s wife is Tammy Jones Huckabee. Poppa Johnnie is the grandfather of Johnnie Charles Huckabee, James Matthew “Jamie” Huckabee, Brett Nicole Smith, and Douglas Jared “D.J.” Smith and D.J.’s wife Rebecca. He is the great grandfather of Riley Briggs Salley. Mr. Johnnie was born in Wagener to the late Milledge Harper and Elsie Fulmer Huckabee. His stepfather was the late Paul McLane. Mr. Johnnie was the brother of Rachel Ann H. Player (the late Ronald Walter Player) and Rev. David Franklin Huckabee (the late Judith Ann Huckabee). He is the brother-in-law of Ross Driggers and his wife JoAnne of Columbia, Larry Driggers and his wife Susan of Columbia, Evelyn Witt and her husband the late John Witt of Columbia, the late Betty Rawls and her husband Clinard Rawls of Columbia, and the late Carolyn and Walter Ruff. He dearly loved his four-legged baby Midgett. Johnnie had many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Johnnie was a member of Berlin Baptist Church. He was a member of the IBEW which allowed him the opportunity to work all over the country. He was a life member Mason in the Cedar Lodge # 184 of Wagener. Mr. Johnnie was Past Master in 2008 and 2011. He loved animals, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and wood working. He had a great sense of humor which he kept until the end. He loved his family and will be dearly missed and forever loved.

A time of viewing with Johnnnie will be Friday, July 31, 2020  from 10 am to 3 pm in the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Due to the current health pandemic, social distancing will be observed. Face covering is required at the funeral home viewing with a limit of 10 people in the chapel at a time.  Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Berlin Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael McCormick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Masonic Rites will be afforded. 

Memorials may be made to Berlin Baptist Church at P. O. Box 190 Wagener, S.C. 29164 or the SPCA, 199 Willow Run Road, Aiken, SC 29801.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Agape Hospice for all of their help and caring.  Very special thank you to Le Shee, Melvin Thomas, Monica Jackson, Kayla Berry, TK, and Loretta Cobb.  You all helped us so much and Mr. Johnnie seemed to be at ease in your presence.  The family also wants to thank the Chaplain David for visiting with Mr. Johnnie and ministering to and praying with him.  

Pallbearers will be Johnnie Huckabee, D. J. Smith, Jamie Huckabee, Robbie Young, Kenneth Rawls, Walter Ruff, and Ryan Driggers.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Masons of Cedar Lodge #184 Masonic Lodge, Wagener.
