Loretta Joan (Dufresne) French

Pelion – Mrs. Loretta Joan Dufresne French, 71, entered into rest on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

Left to cherish Loretta’s memory are her husband Lawrence “Larry” Roland French, Sr., they were married on June 1, 1985 for almost 39 years; her children, Laura Lee Houle and her husband Daniel, and Lawrence Roland French, Jr. and his fiancé Nicki; grandchildren, Nathaniel “Nate” James Dufresne, Jsonte Martineau, Alexander “Alex” Dean Dufresne-Hanks, Crystal Denise Colson, Liana Debbie Smith, Christian Gabrial French, Rebecca Lynn Hastings, Ethan Bruce Hastings, and Jordan Allen Hastings, and 10 great grandchildren; and her siblings, Edward Russell Dufresne and his wife Joyce, Louise Ann Heminway and her husband Donald, Louis Arthur Dufresne, and Jean Evelyn Morris. Mrs. Loretta’s family from Larry’s side of the family include Patricia Jane Hastings and her husband Wayne. Mrs. Loretta has many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Mrs. Loretta was born on July 10, 1952, in Leominster, Massachusetts to the late Marie Eugenie Evelyn Martineau Dufresne and the late Pierre Aime Dufresne Jr. She is also preceded in death by her siblings: Elizabeth Nancy Walter, Aime Joseph Dufresne, and George James Dufresne. 

Mrs. Loretta delivered newspapers to stores as well as homes. She operated a Therapeutic Foster Care Home having housed over seventy children through nine years of caring and loving those placed in her home. She delivered auto parts briefly and then became a Truck Driver for about nine years. Mrs. Loretta and Larry lived in Massachusetts until 2010 when they moved to the Pelion area of Lexington County, SC. She was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, May 9, 2024 in Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Pastor Johnny Slice will be officiating. Visitation will follow the service.
