Margaret (Hoover) Gunter

Salley – Mrs. Margaret Hoover Gunter, entered into heaven on Monday, June 28, 2021.

Mrs. Margaret is the wife of the late Alfred Govan “Jack” Gunter, Sr. They were married for 49 years until his passing in February of 2000.  She is the mother of Alfred G. Gunter, Jr. and his wife Cathy, and the late Markie Joe Gunter and his wife Mary. Mrs. Margaret is the grandmother of Gregory Gunter and his wife Lori, Jessica Joy and her husband Justin, Joseph “Joe” Gunter and his fiancé Allison Shumpert, and Kristina Goins and her husband Destin. She is the great grandmother of Riley Gunter, Bryce Gunter, Tanner Gunter, Aubrey Joy, Paxton Joy, Noah Gunter, Conner Gunter, Grayson Goins, and Graham Goins. Mrs. Margaret is the daughter of the late Braxton Elvin “Pent” Hoover and the late Maggie Viola Corbett Hoover. She is the sister of Lillie Mae Hallman and her husband the late Cecil, Betty Jean Love and her husband the late Wilbur, Maggie McLaurin and the late Neal, the late Richard Hoover and his wife Lucy, the late Herbert Hoover and his wife the late Connie Vernelle, and the late Wilbur Hoover and his wife the late Virginia.

Mrs. Margaret is a faithful member of Rocky Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed teaching the preschool Sunday School class. Mrs. Margaret enjoyed cooking, especially for the children and youth at summer church camps. She also enjoyed taking care of people at Rapha Nursing Home. Mrs. Margaret loved spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren, and LOAFING with her sisters.  She was very active with her family and the church. Mrs. Margaret will be forever loved and missed.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 Friday July 2, 2021 at Rocky Grove Baptist Church. A Service Celebrating Mrs. Margaret’s life will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. John O’Cain ministering. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Rocky Grove Baptist Church Ramp Ministry at P.O. Box 508 Salley, SC 29137.
