Ms. Mary Mattie Chavis Hallowell, 92, entered into rest on Monday, November 3, 2025.
Ms. Mary is survived by her son, Jimmy Chavis and his wife Debbie, daughter, Mattie Ruth Seigler and her husband Wavlon, grandchildren: Chasty Elizabeth Rushton and her husband Eddie, Breanna Cheyeene Chavis, Benjamin Jacob Chavis and his wife Maleah, Tammy Lynn Cloud, Edward Jason Seigler, Brandon James Seigler, April Blanton and her husband Nicholas, Raymond Wesley Gray and his wife Stacey, Natalie Hope Goodwin and her husband Wesley, Victoria Nicole Bishop and her boyfriend Joe Floyd, Laura Ann Adicks and her husband Corey, and Rodney Hayden Bishop and granddaughter in law Myra Bishop, 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ms. Mary was born on March 3, 1933, to the late Spurgeon Daniel Chavis and the late Mattie Simmerman Chavis. She is also preceded in death by her children: Peggy Jean Gray and her husband Stanley, Hazel Ann Bishop and her husband William “Bill”, and Rodney James Chavis, grandchild Wiliam Heath Bishop, and her siblings: Cresy Brunson, Eva Williamson, Eldridge Chavis, Charles Chavis, Betty Smith, Dillie Bairefoot, Robert Chavis, and Purman Chavis.
Ms. Mary was a member of Friendship Community Church. She loved attending church and praising her Lord and Savior. Ms. Mary enjoyed taking trips to the mountains.
Visitation will be on 2-3 pm on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 3 pm also in the chapel. Burial will be at Public Worship of God Cemetery.
