In celebration of a loving life, we announce the passing of Meida Swartz Dillon into heaven, joining her parents, siblings, and many other dear ones on June 14, 2022. We are comforted in knowing that they were there to greet and guide her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched.
Born at home near Wagener, SC to Banks and Nezzie Swartz, she graduated from Wagener High School and worked as a teller at Wagener Bank & Trust until marriage and motherhood, thereby dedicating her life to her family. Meida’s lifelong love, husband Eugene Dillon, will miss her deeply, having shared 62 years of adoring partnership. She was the beloved mother of Kay Dillon and Patti Nelson (Matt), the proud Mema of Dillon Snipes (Brandie), Dusty Dillon, Dalton Williams (Ryan) and Ashley Nelson. The beauty of her spirit lives on as well through her Great Grandchildren; Sophie, Ryder, Shane, Hudson and Raegan. During Meida’s last years she shared a special bond with Ms. Dorothy Williamson. Her family especially appreciates her loving kindness as well as the aid from all the caregivers at Trinity Hospice.
Meida was raised on a farm and stated that she’d never marry a farmer. She didn’t, but her father quickly turned him into one. There was always a homemade cake or pie in the house as well as garden vegetables and food to share with anyone that may stop by. She made her home a welcoming and nurturing place to live and visit. Anyone that knew Meida knows she was an angel on this earth. A generous kind soul to everyone all her life. She is already dearly missed and will forever live on in our hearts.
The Dillon family will receive friends from 10 – 11 am on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Bethcar Baptist Church. A Service Celebrating Meida’s life will be 11:30 am also in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Chris Addy will be ministering.
