Patricia "Pat" Gunter

Patricia "Pat" Shirley Smith Gunter, 78, entered rest on September 24, 2024.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 43 years, Jack Loye Gunter, Sr., children: Jennifer Lynne Duke and her husband Lee, Brent Daniel Dempsey and his wife Candy, and Donna G. Williams and her husband Scott, her grandchildren: Catherine Duke, Savannah Duke, Sydney Duke, Dallas Duke, Carlieni Almonte, Dariana Santos Almonte, Cameron Williams and his fiancée Kylee Kanealey, Cory Williams and his fiancée Jillian Epp, her siblings: Phyllis Hegler and her husband Patrick, Deborah Cherry and her husband Bill, Barbara Shumpert and her husband Donnie, and Steve Smith and his wife Maureen and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pat was born on December 20, 1945 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Harry Mason Smith and the late Shirley Ethel Dantzler Smith.  She was preceded in death by her son Jack L. Gunter, Jr. and her favorite aunt Mary L. Smith

Pat worked for many years at IRS and as a church secretary at Red Bank Baptist, South Lexington Baptist, and First Baptist of Swansea.  She loved to sing and listen to Southern Gospel music.  She sang with several quartets and was the music director several times at different churches.  She was an incredible cook and loved to do many types of crafts, including crochet.  She loved her grandchildren with a passion and tried to help anyone that she could. 

She is much loved and will be sorely missed.

Memorials can be made to Crossroads Baptist Church of Gilbert, 525 Main St, Gilbert, SC 29054.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at New Hope Baptist Church, 249 New Hope Church Rd, Pelion, SC 29123.  The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 pm also at the church.
