Paul Lucas Obituary

Mr. Paul McArthur Lucas, 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, at his home surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Left to cherish Mr. Paul’s memories are his wife of sixty years, Darla Gayle Sox Lucas, children: Andrea Gayle Lucas Wise and her husband Richard, Kara Lee Lucas Holladay and her husband Michael, Jeremy Paul Lucas and his wife Melissa, and Katrina Roberts Hatchell and her husband Shawn, grandchildren:  Adam Wise and his wife Felicia, Aaron Wise and his wife Brittani, Alexandria Poole and her husband Jamie, Aaliya Wise, Shawna Wise, Matthew Wise, Piper Sox Lucas, Lissa Lique, Angelica Lique, Christopher Hatchell, Sr. Michael Hatchell, and Joshua Hatchell,  great grandchildren: Madison Wise, Payton Wise, Logan Wise, Brayden Wise, Tyeler Wise, Kenslee Wise, Charlee Wise, Christopher "C.J.” Hatchell, Jr., Terney Hatchell, and Talen Poole, siblings and in-laws: Freddie Lucas and his wife Linda, Alan O’Neal Lucas and his wife Diane and Faye Lucas, his four legged fur babies, Bad Boy and Baby Girl, special friend, Ann Senterfeit, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Paul was born on April 4, 1942, to the late Fred Lee Lucas and the late Ila Mae Wise Lucas. He is also preceded in death by his siblings and in-laws: Betty L. Shumpert, Miriam Jackson and her husband the Ed, Patricia Boone and her husband Luther, Jimmy J. Lucas, Larry Lucas and his wife Gwen.

Paul was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard having served his country proudly for 6 years. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Paul worked as a heavy equipment and automotive mechanic. He was a master gardener who fed deer very well, he also cared for several rescue horses. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Paul enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with those who meant the most to him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Paul’s honor may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 am on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the service. Rev. Chris Addy will be officiating.
