Pelion, SC – Robert Barrs, 74, tragically lost his life and entered into a peaceful rest on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
Born on September 27, 1950, to Robert "Mozie" Wilson Barrs and Faustine "Teen" Fay Sharpe Barrs, Robert lived a life dedicated to his family, friends, and community. He is survived by his daughters, Bobbi Jo Barrs Sexton and her husband Olyn, and Jennifer Ann Barrs Huffines and her husband Gavin. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Logan Connor Sexton, Wyatt Ethan Sexton, and Emily Bree Huffines, who brought him endless joy. Robert's love for his family extended to his siblings, Thomas "Tommy" Cedric Barrs, Sheila Annette B. Shealy and her husband Randy, Jon Titus Barrs and his wife Betty Ann, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A true craftsman, Robert dedicated his life to carpentry, beginning his career alongside his father at Mashburn Construction and later retiring from Bobby Ray Jeffcoat Construction. His hands shaped more than just buildings; they built memories and lasting relationships, leaving a legacy of hard work and reliability.
In his younger years, Robert found great joy in life's simple pleasures, especially in his passion for horses. His bond with Frosty, his cherished Appaloosa mare, was one of loyalty and adventure. Whether he was riding through the fields or competing in speed events, Robert's love for the outdoors was always evident. He was never happier than when surrounded by nature or sharing a quiet moment with family and friends.
A man of kindness, Robert never met a stranger. He had a story for every occasion, a smile for every encounter, and a helping hand for anyone in need. His warmth and easygoing spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Robert's legacy of goodwill will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the community.
Above all, Robert's greatest joy came from being a grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. His presence at family gatherings, always with a gentle smile and a full plate, will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
In lieu of flowers, the Barrs family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Robert's honor to the Pelion High School chapter of FFA. Donations can be mailed to 600 Lydia Drive, Pelion, SC 29123.
A Service Celebrating Robert's life will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the service. In keeping with Robert's simple yet meaningful life, the family invites everyone to come dressed in casual or Western attire as we honor a man who was true to himself in all that he did.
