Pelion – Mr. Robert Edward Escue, 67, knelt at the Lord’s feet and received his first sermon directly from his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 13, 2022.
Robert was born in Fairfax County, Virginia. He is survived by his mother: Janice Ashline Escue and preceded by his father, Robert Barry Escue, Jr. Robert was the loving father of Trudy Escue of WV; Robbie Escue and his wife Tiffany of Irmo; Tabitha Brown, Ryan Escue and his wife Brittany of Pelion. His grandchildren knew him as PopPop. Rene` Ambrose and her husband Manuel, Landon Brown, Jordan Calhoun, Ryan Escue, Roran Escue, and Xander Christos. He had many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Robert was the brother of Kathie Brewer, David Escue and his wife Karen, and Florrie Escue.
Mr. Robert (in his younger years was fondly known as Bob Ed) graduated from Eau Claire High School in Columbia, SC. After serving in the United States Navy, he attended Midlands Technical College. Mr. Robert made a career with the Fire Department at Fort Jackson where he spent the majority of that time as a Fire Inspector. He a spent his spare time volunteering as a fire fighter and EMT with Pelion Fire Department. He coached and umpired little league in Pelion, showed rabbits and cavy, collected baseball cards, loved Jerry Clower, Ray Stevens, and the Beach Boys. His faith in God led him to be active at Pelion Baptist, Oak Grove, and for the last seven years at Convent Baptist Church. He was always there for his Pastor, he served as a deacon, and assisted with church events by operating the sound system. He has always been interested in family genealogy and was an active member of the SARS (Sons of the American Revolution). He loved his family and was an avid Walt Disney fanatic. His favorite characters were Goofy and the Princess Snow White.
Visitation will be 11-12 pm on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Convent Baptist Church. A Service Celebrating Mr. Robert’s life will be at 12 pm also in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with honors. Pastor Travis Crumpton will be ministering to the family.
