Ronald Jon Maury went to his heavenly home Sunday, March 21, 2021. Ron loved God, his family and his friends. He had a sweet spirit and a wonderful sense of humor.
Ron was born March 25, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri. His family moved to Fairhope, Alabama when Ron was five, and Ron always identified himself as a south Alabama man.
Ron graduated from Fairhope High School, Marion Military Institute and Georgia Tech. He was especially proud of being a Ramblin Wreck. Ron retired as an insurance adjuster with GAB Business Services. He also taught high school math for twelve years. He also referee/umpired.
In his youth and young adult years he sailed his sailboat with Fairhope Yacht Club and later the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. He enjoyed competing in regattas. Often Ron would say he gave up sailing when he met his futured wife, Diane to become a farmer.
Ron loved his church. He was a founding elder, trustee, and faithful member of Aiken Christian Church. Ron enjoyed reading, riding his horse Zorro and taking care of his chickens. He referred to his hens as “The Girls”
Ron is survived by his wife of 54 years Diane, daughter Rebecca Sox (T.C.), granddaughter Claudia and grandson J. T. and daughter Pamela Nord (Eric)
Ron’s wish was to have a celebration of his life here at the farm. He also wanted the farm in his words to be pretty so we have chosen June 5th at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon to remember and celebrate this remarkable man.
