Joe is the son of Angela Holifield Davis and her husband Aaron Lee Davis, and the late Tommy Lee Still. He is the brother of Daryl Curtis Davis and his wife Whitney, Brandon Still, Sylvia Diane Jones, the late Shane Still, and the late Scott Still. He is the maternal grandson of Ruby Boyd, the late Joe Holifield, and the late Jim Boyd. He is the paternal grandson of Duylee Still and the late Evedell Still. Joe has many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joe was a member of Seivern Baptist Church. He was a loving and caring person. Joe enjoyed riding motorcycles and drawing.
