Sarah Frances (Taylor) Crouch

Mrs. Sarah Frances Taylor Crouch, 86, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 14, 2022.  Mrs. Sarah was born February 8, 1936. She was born to Ossie Lee Smith Taylor and Clarence Samuel Taylor in Saluda County. She married William Pope Crouch March 11, 1951 until his death September 30, 1983. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings; Smith Taylor and his wife Ada, Fragle and his wife Mimie, Ralph Taylor and his wife Faye, Kittie Berry and her husband Hoyt, Linus Taylor and his wife Lila, and baby Frances Taylor.  Mrs. Sarah is survived by her daughters; Eva C. Bennett and her husband Ronald and Bertha C. Nettles and her husband Roger, grandchildren; Fran Brown and her husband Dan, William Bennett and his wife Amanda, Lee Bennett, Dean Bennett and his wife Meredith, Edwin R. Nettles, Jr., the late Jonathan W. Nettles, Sr., Eunice N. Broach and her husband Kirk, and Joseph W. Nettles and his wife Shanti, great grandchildren; Callie Brown, Ty Brown, Jacob Brown, Hayden Bennett, Aniston Bennett, Aivee Bennett, Gracie Nettles, Ashley Nettles, J.W. Nettles, Jr., and Caulder Broach. She was loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mrs. Sarah Crouch started working for the Pelion Public Schools starting in 1956. Mrs. Crouch since then, worked for the Pelion Manufacturing Company, Hardee’s, Wendy’s, Maurice’s BBQ, Buddy’s Pelionian, and Zippy Mart. She then decided to open her own in-home childcare in 1984 and continued until 2013. This was her greatest love, taking care and loving kids at Pelion Childcare.

Mrs. Sarah loved to go fishing, bowling, play video games with her grandchildren, watch game shows and westerns. She also enjoyed singing. Mrs. Sarah, her husband Pope, and two daughters, were known as “The Singing Crouches” through out the Midlands.

Mrs. Sarah was a founding charter member of Open Bible Church of Saluda. She was an active member who taught adult Sunday School classes for many years. She was well known for her blueberry and cherry salad at church functions.

The family would like to thank Lexington Medical Center for their care over the last three weeks. We would also like to thank Agape Hospice Care for their Support. Mrs. Sarah was loved and taken care of by her daughter, Bertha in her home since 2019.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Funeral Service will be at 3:00 p.m. at Open Bible Church of Saluda on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Interment will follow at Batesburg Cemetery. Rev. Ronald Bennett and Rev. Mark Wilkes will be officiating.
