Pelion – Mrs. Shirley A. Pfuntner Carnell, 86, entered into rest on Thursday, February 25, 2021.
Mrs. Shirley is the mother of Betty J. Annis and her husband Paul Roberts, Cindy L. Bendzus and her husband Greg, William “Bill” C. Clayton, Sherry C. Alveshire and her husband Gene, Keith R. Clayton and his wife Cynthia, Kevin R. Clayton and his wife Vicky, Casey Carnell, Susan Morrell, Nancy Dye and her husband JR, Richard Carnell and his wife Joyce, and Barbara Foltz and her husband Lee. She is the mother-in-law of the late Richard F. Annis, I. Mrs. Shirley is the grandmother of Wendy A. McGee and her husband John, Richard F. Annis II, Katrina Hatchell and her husband Shawn, Karen L. Bendzus, Gregory “Bo” Bendzus, Jr., Lisa Jeffcoat and her husband Andy, Josie Webster and her husband Darnell, Katie McCoy and her husband Wofford, Rachale Helffrich and her husband Paul, Amanda Depperman, Mark Clayton and his wife Monica, Sherrie Edwards and her husband Vincent, Pamela Grevos and her husband Glenn, Twanda Mathis and her husband Michael, Stanley Lemaster and his wife Stephanie, Jeffrey Lemaster and his wife Michelle, Erin Hickman and her husband James, Adam Foltz, and Matthew Foltz and his wife Diven, Cheri Balagot and her husband Rickie, and Richard “Ricky” Carnell, Jr. She is the great grandmother of 58 and the great great grandmother of 21. Mrs. Shirley is the sister of Mary Clark, Evelyn Rowe, Carolyn “Linnie” Mulley and her husband Frank, Walter Pfuntner, Raymond “R.J.” Pfuntner and his wife Linda, the late Marg Ninci, the late Ruth “Boots” Francis, and the late Arthur John “Buddy” Pfuntner. She is the aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Shirley is the wife of the late Melvin F. Carnell. She was born in Dansville New York, to the late Raymond John Pfuntner and the late Ruby Laura Snyder Pfuntner.
Mrs. Shirley was born on July 4th and truly was a firecracker. She had a personality larger than life and would light up a room. She loved working in her garden, listening to Elvis, and loved dancing. She loved her family. Mrs. Shirley faithfully attended Pelion Church of the Nazarene. She was loved by everyone and will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be 2-3 pm on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Pelion Church of the Nazarene with funeral following at 3 pm. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery. Mrs. Shirley’s services will be streamed live on Pelion Church of the Nazarene’s Facebook page.
