Sylvia "Sarah" Faye (Drummond) Borgheresi

August 31, 1953 ~ September 10, 2023 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Obituary

West Columbia – Mrs. Sylvia Faye “Sarah” Drummond Borgheresi, 70, peacefully departed this life surrounded by her family at home on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

Sylvia is survived by her husband of 23 years, Christian Borgheresi. She is the loving mother of Ashley Tyler, Jamie Tyler, and his wife Amanda. Sylvia is the grandmother of Alyssa (Greg) Eudy, Lauren Tyler, Christian (Madisyn) Graham, Abby Gordon, Justin Tyler, and Jaden Tyler, as well as the great-grandmother of Ryker and Remy Faye and a special honorary great-aunt to Savannah (Kyle) Rodrick. She is cherished by countless others, too many to name but no less beloved, who were touched by her selfless spirit and faithful heart.

Sylvia was born in Lynchburg, Virginia to the late Georgetta Wilson Clark and Warren Cleveland Drummond but grew up in Richmond County, North Carolina. She is the sister of the late Etta Faye Drummond, Georgia Kay Threadgill, Benita Colleen Tyler, Bonita Collette Masters, the late Warren “Wren” Cleveland Drummond, Robin Desiree Boyton, the late Horace Mitchell “Mike” Culver, Mavis Watson Gibson, the late Johnny Lee Carroll, and Mary Christine Reeves.

Sylvia graduated high school at the age of 16 at Samercand Manor. She attended Richmond Tech, where she was the college’s 1970-71 homecoming queen. She then moved to Charlotte, NC to raise her children and work for 15 years at Charlotte Liberty Mutual, honing skills she would transfer later to many different industries and roles. An adventurous streak led her to karate, scuba diving, ceramics, fiber arts, spontaneous roadtripping, and more. She had a keen mind that was forever trying to unravel one mystery or another through reading and writing.

Sylvia joined the Orthodox Church in America in midlife after years of prayerful truth-seeking and was a member of Holy Apostles Orthodox Church. She spent much of her later life caring for loved ones in their final days, gardening, birdwatching, crossword-solving, and simply loving others in action. She will be deeply missed.

The Panikhida (Prayer) Service and visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14th at Holy Apostles Orthodox Church, 724 Buff Street, West Columbia, SC. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 15th at Holy Apostles Orthodox Church with internment to follow at Saints Mary and Martha Orthodox Monastery, 65 Spinner Lane, Wagener, SC.
