Bertha Jean “Tippy” Thomas, 78, departed this earthly life and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 19, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Tippy was born on May 22, 1947, to the late Doss Clay Robinson of Nashville, TN and the late Nina Mundy Robinson of Wagener, SC. She is also preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 16 years, Roland “Bubba” Thomas and her son Glenn Perry Withrow.
Left to cherish Tippy’s memories are her children Gary (Paula) Withrow and Tammy (Allen) Boyd; grandchildren Tiffany (Elliott) Riddle, Bobby “Spud” (Brianna) Chavis, and Alyssa (Corey) Furtick; and her great-grandchild Dawson Furtick.
Tippy’s life was a testament to her unwavering devotion to both her faith and her family. Her favorite title was “Nanny”, a name that meant the world to her. Her heart beat for her grandchildren and great grandchild—they were her greatest joy and the very center of her world. Tippy’s compassion knew no bounds—she had a nurturing spirit and a gift for helping others heal, both in body and in heart. She had a beautiful way of showing she cared—through thoughtful cards sent for every occasion, from birthdays and holidays to moments when someone simply needed encouragement. Her artistic spirit and gift for crafting will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. She found joy in the kitchen, and her talent for cooking was cherished by all who had the pleasure of sharing a meal with her. Tippy’s legacy will live on in the lives she touched and the hearts that will forever remember her.
Visitation will be 2 - 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Bethcar Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be at 4:00pm also in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, where Tippy will be laid to rest beside the love of her life, Bubba. Rev. Chris Addy and Rev. John O'Cain will be officiating.
Tippy’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Gentiva Hospice for the care they provided in her last days, specifically her nurses: Jenna, Wendy, and Kathy.
