Tonya (Simpson) Spires

Tonya Sue Simpson Spires, 56, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

Left to cherish Tonya’s memories are her husband of 28 years, Gregory “Greg” Todd Spires, children: Daniel Joseph Simpson, Sierra Jordan Heaberlin and her husband Dylan, and Alexandra “Allie” Danielle Price and her husband Tony, grandchildren: Vivian Spires, Kyson Heaberlin, Easton Price, and Parker Price, her father, Robert Simpson and his wife Jeanie, step-father, John King, siblings and in-laws: John Simpson and his wife Gayle, Tracy Blumenschein and her husband Tony, Melissa King, Jeanie Newcomer and her husband Brad, Sue Cousins and her husband Charlie, and Robert Simpson and his wife Mahita, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Tonya was born in Marion, Ohio, on August 20, 1969. She is preceded in death by her mother Ruth Ann Smith and her brother David King.

Tonya was a kind, loving, and compassionate woman who lived her life to serve others. A Registered Nurse, Tonya worked at Aiken Regional Medical Center. She had a true passion for helping others and caring for them. Tonya enjoyed gardening, cooking, music, singing, and dancing. One of her favorite places was sitting in her rocking chair on her front porch enjoying the peace of the outdoors. Greg and Tonya would take weekend and day trips to the beach; those memories will be cherished forever. When they lived in Ohio, the family’s favorite place to go was the Columbus Ohio Zoo. Tonya had a competitive spirit and was always ready to play a game of Euchre with her family. Tonya loved attending and worshiping God at her church, Cedar Creek. Most of all, she loved her family dearly; time spent pouring into her children and grandchildren is her greatest accomplishment. Her favorite title was “Grandma”. She will be dearly missed and loved.

A Celebration of Life Service honoring Tonya's life will be 5 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Cedar Creek Church (Building 4). Pastor Phillip Lee will be officiating. Tonya's family will receive friends following the service. 

A Celebration of Life Service will also be held on February 7, 2026, at 2:00 pm at 1003 North Maple Street, Marysville Ohio in The Rock Church gym.
